I didn’t know anything about antioxidant’s (except that they were good for me)UNTIL,…my son became ill with a (un-curable) health condition.
Then my wife attended American Medical Association certified Continuing Education classes for doctors, nurses, etc. (AMA CE) and learned the need for antioxidants, the various strengths of antioxidants, and the marketing tricks being done with antioxidants – most of which the public is completely unaware of.
Here’s some of what she learned as we found complete recovery for our son’s health challenge,…via the power of antioxidants in nature (instead of using symptom suppressing toxic drugs that often have significant negative side effects).
1. The marketing label you see in the health food store regarding antioxidant (ORAC=Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) can be mis-leading – often is.
2. Over 90 products from the shelves have been analyzed and here’s what they found:
A. 3 products touting “antioxidant” power actually had a pro-oxidizing effect — that means they acted the opposite of how they were advertised.
B. 1800 units of lab tested ORAC value was the average of the other 87 products. There was no industry test for checking “fat soluble” antioxidant capacity (only the water soluble capacity was being addressed).
C. The highest test results showed an ORAC (water soluble) capacity of just over 5,000 units of protection per gram.
What’s actually available to the informed, is antioxidants from natural food that provide over 17,000 Units of Protection per gram. That’s nearly 10 times the protection of the average product on the market and almost 3x the level of protection of the most potent antioxidant currently available on the health food shelves.
On item 1 above. Here’s how some marketers mislead with their ORAC labels.
They state the bottles entire ORAC level of protection, versus comparing units of antioxidant protection per gram or per equal serving.
So,…now you understand ORAC and the value of comparing gram to gram when you buy.
If you want to learn more, including WHY antioxidant protection is EXTREMELY Important – according to AMA CE classes we learned from…
You can learn our son’s real life, short story and learn that DEET chemicals have been found in Peguins (floated in the air to the poles via the jetstream they expect) – you think there may be toxicity around you? How about the 100 cites tested – all positive for antibiotics in their drinking water — do you understand the vast oxidative stress this puts on our bodies?
You need to understand antioxidants to enjoy top notch quality of life in today’s world. According to AMA certified CE, Oxidative stress IS THE ROOT CAUSE of All Illnesses (excluding trauma and genetic issues). There are actually a wide range of different types of foods, many which are common items in the daily diet, that are high in antioxidants and provide a great number of health benefits for your body.
There is a misconception that the very highest amount of antioxidants is found in tea and, in particular, in green tea. While green tea is very high in antioxidants, there is one food item that actually has a higher content. Believe it or not, dark chocolate is the winner of the high antioxidant food category. It important to understand that this refers only to dark chocolate, and does not include milk chocolates or white chocolates. Dark chocolate is produced from the cocoa bean and is in the purest and least diluted form, which is why dark chocolate is so rich and distinct in flavor. Although high in antioxidants, eating large quantities of dark chocolate isn’t healthy either – just a small amount in the diet is beneficial. Dark chocolate contains flavonols, which are a type of flavinoid. Further breaking down the types of antioxidants in dark chocolate you will find procyanidins, epicatechins and catechins, this last one being the same antioxidant found in green tea.
Berries have long been recognized as a healthy addition to the diet, but now researchers and nutritionists know why. Berries, particularly strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and kiwi fruit, provide a large amount of antioxidants to the diet, plus they also add fiber, vitamins and great taste. Consider eating berries on your cereal or as a dessert rather than cake or pie. Berries also make an easy to carry snack for kids and are simple to have at your desk for between meal cravings.
Many vegetables are also high antioxidant food types and generally they include the green leafy vegetables. Some good examples of high antioxidant content vegetables include green and red cabbage, kale, spinach, broccoli and cauliflower. All of these vegetables are in the cruciferous group of vegetables along with bok choy, and Brussels sprouts. Eating these vegetables on a daily basis, or even adding one or two servings per week in addition to your regular diet, will help increase the amount of antioxidants available for your body to use.
Whenever planning to add more high antioxidant foods to your diet, be sure to do so reasonably and slowly, not all at once. In addition don’t only eat foods that are high antioxidant foods, you also need to consume complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, brown rice and cereals; proteins such as lean meats and fish, as well as other vegetables and fruits. Keep in mind that eating in balance helps your body with vitamins and minerals that are also necessary in the production of antioxidants as well as in overall health. wholesale swarovski rhinestones
Antioxidants are molecules of nutrients in food that prevent oxidation from damaging the human body. Oxygen is used by the human body which produces a by-product that causes damage. The antioxidants act in a way to repair the damage done by the by-products. Some of the damages done by oxidative damage are diabetes, macular degeneration, heart disease and cancer. Some of the most commonly known antioxidants are vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, and caroteniods.
Antioxidants are very helpful to human health. Some research states that foods that contain antioxidants can actually delay many of the age related diseases. Continual research is always being done about the knowledge of antioxidants. Antioxidants neutralize the by-products of the body. By products can be created not only by oxygen but other factors as well. Radiation and tobacco smoke are two things that cause by products. After a long period of time the damage that is done by the by products can not be reversed this can create cancer. But the antioxidants come in and prevent the by products from taking from other molecules which might help to prevent against cancer.
Another thing that also creates more by products in the body is over exercising. It puts more oxygen into the body and the oxygen creates by product. This concerns some people because it might worsen the damage to muscles. Since it is not possible to measure the amount of by products that are in the body there is not way to tell if a dangerous amount is in the body and if extra antioxidants are going to need to be taken. The damages from exercising occur over time. Regular exercise can increase the antioxidant defenses and protect against the by products create by exercise.
There are a lot of foods that have antioxidants, fruits, vegetables, grains, even some meats have them. Leafy green vegetables have Lutein and carotene. Carotene is also found in things like sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, squash, pumpkins and mangos. Carotene is usually found in foods that are orange in color.
Lycopene is found in such foods as tomatoes, watermelon, grapefruit, papaya, and guava. Most people get there intake of lycopene from tomatoes and tomato products. The mineral selenium isn’t antioxidants but have the same component. It is found in such foods as rice, meats, and bread. Brazil nuts have a high amount of selenium in them too
The vitamins A, C and E are also great in getting antioxidants. Foods that have a lot of vitamin A are liver, milk, egg yolks, carrots, mozzarella cheese and sweet potatoes. Cereals, beef, poultry, and fish are really high in vitamin C. So are many fruits and vegetables. Vitamin E is found in safflower, corn and soybean oils, wheat germ, and almonds. You can also find it in mangos, broccoli, and nuts.
A study has been done on antioxidants to see if they help to reduce the toxic effects of lead. The base of the research was that the main cause of lead being toxic is the oxidative stress. An imbalance was created between the by-products and the antioxidants in the body. This caused an excessive amount of by product in the body and resulted in destroying the tissues. Common symptoms of lead poisoning are anemia, irritability, headaches, weight loss, and motor impairment. Most lead poisoning is caused by eating foods with lead in them and by contact with an environment that has lead in it. The testing done to prove that antioxidants will reduce the toxins from lead was proven to be effective. WP Robot
The emerging market for products claiming to slow aging is undeniably astounding. Among these, supplements containing antioxidants perhaps give the best promises to the consumers. Aside from the fact that these are a wound to the pocket, antioxidant products offer a delight to those who would like to look young in a flash. But how does this free-radical sponge really work?
Free Radicals Defined
First identified by Moses Gomberg in 1900, free radicals are molecular species that are highly reactive. These tiny things play a role in chemical reactions including that of the human. As the cells produce energy (for function and survival), the also create oxygen molecules that are unstable because its electrons are unpaired. These unpaired electrons make this thing to be highly labile.
In the human body, if these unstable molecules go together with other molecules, they would kill their newly acquainted fellows, thereby speeding up the aging process. Drinking, the radiation coming from TVs and computers, drugs, and cigarette smoking spawn free radicals. If we persistently have stress and do not take them away by way of exercise, we give way to the formation of free radicals. If we don’t have a good sleep at least seven hours, we are actually exciting production of more fee radicals.
A lot of changes in our body are as a result of the activities of the free radicals. They damage the DNA and impair other vital functions of cells, causing premature death to these cells. Over time, all these damages would mount up and cause our body to accelerate aging.
Upon breathing, oxygen induces a process called oxidation. And it is in here where free radicals form. This process is likened to the oxidation of metals. Once oxidized, aluminum turns to be white, iron becomes rusty, and copper transforms into green. In the same logic that oxidation damages metals; free radicals are also detrimental to our body.
How Antioxidants Work
Antioxidants are molecules that have the capability of preventing oxidation of other molecules (by the name itself: antioxidant). In the light of anti-aging, antioxidants prevent the formation of free radicals. Antioxidants are naturally occurring substances found in plants. If our body has an abundance of antioxidants, we will be able to prevent the harm brought about by free radicals.
Benefits of Antioxidants
Antioxidants can help you look younger, live longer, and be at your optimum health. Foods rich in antioxidants like fruits and vegetables can give you great protection from coronary heart diseases, and age-related diseases like Alzheimer’s disease.Antioxidants can also strengthen our immune resistance to diseases such as influenza and other bacterial and viral infections.
These substances also reduce a person’s risk of acquiring cancer, an incurable disease. Antioxidants also prevent glaucoma and the age-related degeneration of our macula, the part of the eye that is dedicated for superior acuity vision. Antioxidants also beat down the passing of the aging clock making your skin and other organs rejoice.
Carotenoids, zinc, selenium, and the Vitamins A, C, and E are some of the main antioxidants. Glutathione is said to be the most powerful among all forms of antioxidants. They are naturally present in our body since we were young but depletes as we get older.
If antioxidant supplements are not your type, you may take some delectable bite of the super fruits such as blueberry and raspberry which are said to contain the most number of antioxidants.
So now that you have understood well how these miracle supplements work, you would realize why these wonder tablets cost a lot. May you have a healthily long and young life! Antioxidants are advertised by many but few ever have the whole range of antioxidants that your body needs. Antioxidants are those chemical substances naturally found in plants. They serve as your first line of defense against illness and aging. Oxidation is a process that our bodies normally undergo. It is that process which allows us to function properly, to breathe, to move. But what is good for us may also have negative effects to our bodies. Oxidative damage can result from the production of excess oxygen byproducts called free radicals that react with our healthy cells, causing cellular damage and leading to degenerative diseases. Our bodies are naturally protected by a defense system against oxidative damage, however, human beings are one of the few animals that cannot produce the amount of antioxidants necessary to combat the accumulation of free radicals in our bodies. Antioxidants – The Right Prescription Recent studies have shown that free radicals are linked to various diseases, such as cancer, arthritis, atherosclerosis, heart disease, and even aging. With the right antioxidant formula, you can very well prevent the onset of these diseases, even to the extent of age reversal. Several researchers believe that antioxidant formulas are best if derived from fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables. Antioxidant Prescription- Vitamins and Vitamin-forming Compounds Some antioxidant Prescriptioncontains substances that are familiar to us, like vitamins or vitamin-forming compounds. Vitamin E, vitamin C, vitamin A, Coenzyme Q, and carotenoids, these are but a few of the ingredients found in an antioxidant formula. Vitamin E, C, A, coenzyme Q10, and carotenoids found in antioxidant formulas must be constantly replenished through the diet. The body manufactures others, but the levels of many of these can be bolstered through dietary supplements. Vitamin A for instance is required for night vision, and for healthy skin. Many believe as well that consuming antioxidant formulas that contain vitamin A helps slow aging. New studies show that antioxidants don’t often play its role in isolation. Scientists have found that antioxidants work best when they are working in conjunction with other antioxidants. There is in fact a dynamic interplay among the systems with various antioxidant cycles acting to prevent cell damage and disease. So, an antioxidant Prescriptionthat contains as much antioxidant types possible is the best way to go for. The body’s defense mechanism is composed of various antioxidants with different functions. Antioxidant formulas have been formulated to contain all the antioxidants that research has found necessary for effective detoxification. antioxidants Information CenterHealth Care Positions and more about ChitosanBest Holiday Gifts
